Role Overview: Associate – Engineering Technician

You will collaborate with project teams to develop engineering plans, perform critical analyses, and document findings in support of infrastructure improvement projects. This role demands a detail-focused individual who thrives in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Make Ready Engineering (MRE)

  • Analyze Existing Infrastructure: Evaluate if the current utility pole configurations require MRE before any new attachments, ensuring compliance with industry codes such as NESC and GO95.

  • Violation Resolution Planning: Design attachment plans that address and rectify any identified clearance violations to uphold safety and compliance.

Pole Loading Analysis (PLA)

  • Structural Analysis: Conduct Pole Loading Analyses for both existing and proposed configurations to validate the structural integrity of utility poles post-installation.

  • Work Order Generation: Prepare detailed work orders based on MRE and PLA outcomes, facilitating efficient project execution.

Data Management and Quality Assurance

  • Field Data Review: Examine field-collected data for accuracy and ensure proper documentation of existing attachments.

  • Project Documentation: Utilize project management systems to meticulously document, update, and track project progress.

Project Management and Reporting

  • Production Goal Achievement: Manage your assignments to meet or exceed predetermined production targets and deadlines.

  • Progress Reporting: Regularly track and report project status, hours spent, and milestones achieved to maintain project visibility and accountability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Team Support: Provide assistance to other project teams when workflow demands flexibility, fostering a collaborative work culture.

  • Contribute to Broader Initiatives: Engage in other related engineering projects and tasks as needed to help meet overarching project objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is mandatory.

  • Technical Proficiency: Basic understanding of database management and a strong command of modern data entry systems and project management software.

  • Computer Literacy: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, along with the ability to use modern computers effectively.

  • Relevant Experience: Several years of experience in a related field are preferred; however, candidates with an Associate’s degree in a relevant domain will also be considered.

Preferred Skills

  • Overhead Utility Expertise: Practical knowledge of overhead utility recognition processes is highly desirable.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical mindset to diagnose and resolve engineering challenges effectively.
