Role Purpose
As the Data Scientist Lead – L1, your mission is to define, architect, and execute the development and deployment of machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and AI-powered solutions. You will play a central role in enabling intelligent automation and decision augmentation for business-critical functions.
You will lead high-impact initiatives, support go-to-market strategies, and foster a culture of continuous learning and performance excellence within your team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Driving Demand through Strategic Solution Development
- Collaborate with pre-sales, sales, and consulting teams to support the development of go-to-market strategies.
- Assist in creating solution frameworks, proposals, and proof of concepts aligned with Wipro’s core offerings.
- Engage with universities and academic institutions to drive recruitment initiatives and deliver data science-focused educational content.
2. Revenue Generation via Intelligent Solutions Delivery
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning and deep learning models tailored to solve business problems or enable process automation.
- Collaborate with ML engineers, data engineers, and IT teams to evaluate scalable model deployment strategies.
- Integrate advanced model performance monitoring tools into enterprise systems for enhanced operational insights.
3. Team Leadership & Capability Development
a. Resourcing & Recruitment
- Participate in the hiring process to onboard skilled data science professionals who align with Wipro’s culture and goals.
b. Talent Enablement
- Facilitate onboarding and ongoing training for team members to enhance skill sets.
- Implement talent retention strategies and contribute to a culture of low attrition.
c. Performance Management
- Conduct structured performance reviews and provide development-focused feedback.
- Serve as a mentor and embody Wipro’s Five Habits of Success to inspire excellence.
d. Engagement & Culture
- Lead initiatives to foster employee satisfaction, motivation, and strong team engagement.

Professional Experience
- 5–8 years of hands-on experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence.
- Experience collaborating across departments in enterprise settings.
- Background in technical consulting, client engagement, or delivery leadership is preferred.
