Role Overview: Lead Administrator – L1

The Lead Administrator – L1 position is part of Wipro’s infrastructure services vertical, specifically focused on managing enterprise databases, middleware, platform services, or backup infrastructure. This role primarily demands technical expertise in Oracle Database Administration, along with leadership skills to manage teams, deliver projects, plan migrations, and ensure service continuity.

You will be responsible for infrastructure architecture design, performance tuning, root cause analysis, and service delivery governance. The ideal candidate is proactive, technically sound, process-driven, and capable of mentoring teams while aligning IT operations with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities

🔹 1. Architectural Planning and Implementation

  • Design scalable, secure, and robust database architectures tailored to project requirements.

  • Lead architectural design for Oracle-based platforms to meet performance, reliability, and security benchmarks.

  • Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and platform transitions for enterprise clients.

  • Strategize disaster recovery and implement backup/restoration solutions as per compliance requirements.

  • Ensure all infrastructure changes follow approved protocols and maintain business continuity.

🔹 2. Infrastructure Operations and Monitoring

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and performance bottlenecks.

  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and implement preventive measures.

  • Manage routine administration tasks including maintenance, patching, configuration, and tuning.

  • Drive improvements in service availability, operational efficiency, and data integrity.

🔹 3. Capacity Planning and Performance Tuning

  • Conduct regular reviews to assess current capacity and plan for future demand.

  • Optimize resources through tuning, indexing, and load balancing to ensure maximum throughput.

  • Develop Data Responsibility Matrices and architecture design documents for project teams.

🔹 5. Service Improvement Planning (SIP)

  • Propose and implement SIP initiatives to drive automation, cost savings, and service stability.

  • Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager and scripting tools to automate maintenance tasks.

  • Reduce Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) and enhance First-Time Resolution (FTR) metrics through tech enablement.

  • Lead proof-of-concept (PoC) projects for new tools or methodologies and share outcomes organization-wide.

🔹 6. Client Communication and Reporting

  • Interface with client stakeholders to understand project scope, progress, risks, and escalations.

  • Deliver weekly reports covering progress status, SLA adherence, change requests, and incident logs.

  • Ensure transparent communication with internal leadership and clients regarding performance and improvements.

  • Act as a single point of contact for client escalations related to database services.


Team Leadership Responsibilities

  • Forecast upcoming talent requirements based on project pipeline and business growth.

  • Hire technically sound professionals, conduct onboarding, and guide them through role clarity.

  • Set measurable goals for direct reports and regularly conduct performance reviews.
