The Network Operations Center (NOC) serves as the command hub for Amazon’s transportation network. It facilitates seamless freight movement from vendors to Amazon fulfillment centers (FCs) and from FCs to carrier hubs. The NOC not only resolves operational exceptions in real-time but also proactively identifies trends and drives automation and process improvements.

The Transportation Specialist will support both inbound and outbound logistics, working closely with external stakeholders like carriers and vendors, as well as internal teams including finance, fulfillment, and software support.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure on-time pickup and delivery of freight through effective coordination with carriers, hubs, and warehouses.
• Address issues during the lifecycle of freight movement (both inbound and outbound).
• Execute real-time decisions and resolutions by analyzing data and utilizing internal tools.
• Maintain strong communication with internal teams and external partners to ensure clarity and alignment.
• Collaborate with technology teams to define functional and business requirements for improving operational tools.
• Continuously monitor performance metrics to assess operational effectiveness.
• Escalate variances and unresolved issues promptly to the appropriate teams.
• Develop narratives and reports highlighting weekly performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement.

Inbound vs. Outbound Operations

Inbound Operations involve managing the vendor/carrier/FC ecosystem to guarantee timely freight pickup and delivery. Specialists address scheduling issues, delays, or route deviations that could impact service levels.

Outbound Operations focus on ensuring the timely departure of trucks from fulfillment centers and successful delivery to customer locations. Specialists are responsible for identifying and resolving issues in this process to maintain Amazon’s commitment to timely delivery.

About Amazon Logistics Central Operations (AMZL CO)

As a sub-function within NOC, AMZL Central Operations focuses on elevating the quality and efficiency of delivery services. It achieves this through process standardization, automation, and programmatic interventions across Delivery Stations (DS), Amazon Extra-Large (AMXL), and Same-Day Delivery (SSD) networks.

2. Centralized Routing & Scheduling (CRS): Handles block scheduling and D-day routing from a centralized location.

4. Driver Support (CO DS): Coordinates driver rescues and streamlines delivery operations using tools like Rescue Planner (RP) and Mission Control (MC).
5. Channel Support: Manages DSP, Flex, and Hub Delivery Partners’ invoicing, account validation, and weather incentive programs.

MARCOPOLO Program & Global Expansion

Initiated in June 2021, the MARCOPOLO program aims to offshore operational tasks for cost optimization while creating a globally standardized process framework. With the goal of establishing a Center of Excellence, Amazon envisions:
