Role Overview
As a Systems Development Engineer in Amazon’s ARTS team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining internal systems and applications that empower operational and technical excellence across India and multiple emerging markets. You will collaborate closely with global tech partners, engineers, business leaders, and product teams to deliver robust, scalable technology solutions.
Your work will contribute directly to improving Amazon’s fulfillment network, strategy planning, and global logistics by building platforms that support data visibility, automation, and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend services and serverless applications for internal stakeholders.
- Build automation tools and internal tech services to improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with Software Development Engineers, Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers, and Product Managers to ensure consistent and efficient data tech platforms.
- Interface with stakeholders to understand tech service setup needs and implement solutions that meet SLAs.
- Enhance and support end-user applications across web and backend systems using modern development practices.

- Develop tools using scripting and programming languages like Python, Java, C++, PowerShell, and Golang.
- Troubleshoot, debug, evaluate, and modify existing systems and applications.

Required Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following basic requirements:
- Professional experience programming in at least one modern language: C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
- Experience working with tools for automation, including those for building, testing, releasing, or monitoring systems.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and system design.
- Capable of independently handling diverse responsibilities while effectively prioritizing tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
Preferred Qualifications

Midday, you’ll join cross-functional meetings with global engineering and business teams to discuss platform improvements and upcoming feature rollouts.
You’ll spend time implementing new modules, optimizing system performance, or reviewing code from peers. As a contractor, you’ll also play a key role in ensuring knowledge transfer, documentation, and project completion within your 12-month contract term.
