As a Project Manager – L1, you will be responsible for overseeing project delivery, governance, client engagement, and operations. You will lead cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with the highest quality standards. This position plays a critical role in maintaining strong client relationships, driving innovation, ensuring compliance, and managing a high-performing team.


Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to manage the end-to-end delivery of technology projects, ensuring seamless operations, adherence to project governance frameworks, and effective talent deployment. Your objective will be to achieve client satisfaction, operational efficiency, and financial performance while nurturing team development and promoting innovation.


Key Responsibilities

1. Project Delivery Management

  • Ensure smooth delivery of projects, from initiation through execution and closure.

  • Establish the project charter aligned with client requirements and organizational goals.

  • Maintain delivery structure and governance after transition or migration phases.

  • Evaluate project budget, staffing requirements, and risks to determine optimal delivery approach.

  • Ensure full compliance with SLAs, security protocols, and other contractual obligations.

  • Conduct regular internal and external audits, and resolve any identified non-compliance.

  • Utilize project management tools (e.g., SAP, Confluence) to track progress, compliance, and project health.

2. Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Act as the key liaison between clients and delivery teams to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction.

  • Schedule and lead regular customer meetings, including Management Review Meetings (MRMs) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).

  • Understand clients’ evolving needs and identify opportunities for value-added services.

  • Resolve escalations proactively and implement preventive measures to avoid future risks.

  • Present project performance metrics and continuous improvement plans to clients.

3. Delivery Governance & Reporting

  • Monitor project metrics including cost, quality, effort, and schedule adherence.

  • Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly MIS reports for leadership and clients.

  • Conduct internal performance reviews focused on operational excellence, fulfillment, and idea implementation.

  • Identify delivery risks and early warning signals, taking corrective action to avoid escalations and revenue leakage.

  • Manage financials including revenue realization, cost optimization, margin enhancement, and utilization.

4. Innovation, Automation & Operational Excellence

  • Drive automation opportunities using tools like Wipro Holmes and crowdsourced solutions.

  • Collaborate with tooling teams to integrate next-generation automation solutions.

  • Organize ideation campaigns to foster innovative thinking and propose process enhancements.

  • Promote deployment of value-added initiatives (BVMs), and share successes with customers during QBRs.

  • Encourage team collaboration to identify and implement quality improvements.

5. Knowledge Management

  • Share best practices, success stories, and lessons learned across teams and projects.

  • Lead internal training sessions and contribute articles or case studies to Wipro’s knowledge base.

  • Promote use of Wipro’s knowledge management portal for continuous learning and improvement.

6. Capability Development & Talent Strategy

  • Forecast future talent needs in line with project and business growth.

  • Collaborate with HR and Talent Acquisition to hire, onboard, and retain skilled professionals.

  • Manage team rotations and backfill plans for critical roles.

  • Ensure compliance with mandatory training and upskilling across team members.

  • Conduct career development discussions and create personalized learning maps.

7. Fresher Engagement & Inclusion Programs

  • Support onboarding and integration of freshers via classroom training, e-learning, and mentorship.

  • Encourage diversity and inclusion within project leadership and delivery roles.

8. Team Management & Employee Engagement

  • Set individual and team performance goals, review progress, and provide constructive feedback.

  • Facilitate rewards and recognition programs to acknowledge high performers.

  • Promote a culture of inclusion, engagement, and continuous improvement.

  • Monitor team satisfaction and retention, and address any emerging concerns proactively.

Required Skills and Experience

Core Skill:

  • Project Management

    • Expertise in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project management methodologies.

    • Strong knowledge of SDLC, stakeholder management, and project planning.

Other Requirements:

  • 8–10 years of relevant project management experience in IT/consulting.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage large, cross-functional teams and complex project portfolios.

  • Proven track record in client engagement and service delivery.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.

  • PMP, PRINCE2, or similar certifications are preferred.
