As an SAP BASIS Consultant, you will contribute to system architecture, implementation, and support activities within complex SAP landscapes. You will be part of a collaborative team responsible for performance tuning, security configuration, upgrades, and ensuring system availability across development, QA, production, and DR environments.

Role Summary

As part of Infosys’ consulting division, your role will involve assisting in project scoping, diagnosing SAP system issues, configuring solutions, and supporting system optimization. You will manage various phases of project lifecycles, contribute to system design, perform installations and migrations, and collaborate with offshore and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality SAP BASIS services.

Key Responsibilities

1. SAP System Administration

• Monitor and maintain SAP system landscapes including Sandbox, Development, QA, Production, and DR environments.
• Perform routine system health checks, backups, system refreshes, and performance tuning.
• Handle both ABAP+Java dual-stack and single-stack SAP systems efficiently.

2. Installation, Configuration, and Maintenance

• Install and configure new SAP components, enhancement packages, and third-party tools.
• Support daily operations of SAP Basis and HANA database administration.
• Implement SAP best practices to ensure stability, availability, and scalability of systems.

3. Upgrades and Migrations

• Support SAP system upgrades, patching, and kernel upgrades.
• Assist in OS/DB migrations, system copies, and data replication tasks.
• Contribute to cloud readiness, migration planning, and hybrid deployment models.

4. Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting

• Monitor performance of SAP systems and databases using available tools.
• Perform root cause analysis and resolve system bottlenecks.
• Work proactively to identify and resolve critical performance issues.

5. SAP Solution Manager and 3rd Party Tools

• Install, configure, and support SAP Solution Manager for system monitoring and diagnostics.
• Work with various third-party tools to integrate system monitoring and automation.

6. Project Contribution and Stakeholder Collaboration

• Engage in planning, estimation, and diagnosis phases of client projects.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their challenges and propose technical solutions.
• Participate in Proof of Concepts (POCs), research solutions, and evaluate vendor offerings.

7. Client-Focused Delivery

• Contribute to requirement gathering and documentation efforts.
• Assist in configuration based on functional designs and business process mapping.
• Ensure high client satisfaction through proactive issue resolution and solution delivery.

Additional Responsibilities

• Provide 24×7 SAP BASIS support as required in a rotating schedule.
• Maintain system documentation and operational guides.
• Ensure SAP systems are secure and aligned with compliance policies.
• Participate in disaster recovery drills and maintain system availability.
• Take part in unit-level and organizational initiatives.

Technical and Professional Requirements

Core Technical Skills:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in SAP Basis and HANA administration
• Expertise in:
  • SAP system monitoring and maintenance
  • Kernel upgrades and patch application
  • System refreshes and restores
  • SAP Solution Manager
• Strong understanding of:
  • SAP system architecture
  • Transport Management System (TMS)
  • Background jobs and batch processing
  • Database management (SAP HANA preferred)

Preferred Skills:

• SAP HANA Basis/DBA knowledge
• Experience with SAP Business Suite
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure and SAP on cloud models (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Working knowledge of Global Delivery Models, offshore coordination, and multi-location project delivery
• SAP Certification in BASIS or HANA is a plus
