🎯 Role Overview: Test Engineer – L4

The Test Engineer – L4 role at Wipro is a pivotal position for software quality assurance, ensuring products meet functional, performance, and reliability standards before reaching the client. As a senior-level test engineer, you will be responsible for designing test cases, implementing automated test scripts, managing test environments, and overseeing defect tracking processes.

This role calls for hands-on experience in manual and automated testing, coupled with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. You will collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers to deliver error-free software that aligns with both customer expectations and organizational quality benchmarks.

🧪 Key Responsibilities

📌 1. Test Planning and Case Design

• Understand business requirements, convert them into testable components, and design comprehensive test cases.

• Collaborate with development teams to identify possible edge cases and improve test coverage.

• Participate in the definition of test strategies, scope, and planning across various release cycles.

• Ensure all test cases undergo peer review and incorporate feedback to maintain quality standards.

• Use model-based testing approaches to design efficient and reusable test structures.

• Execute both manual and automated test cases across a variety of environments, ensuring comprehensive software validation.

• Automate regression and functional tests using tools like VB macros, GUI automation, Selenium, etc.

• Develop and maintain automation frameworks and continuously enhance test scripts for reusability and scalability.

• Identify test data requirements, prepare test environments, and validate data integrity across platforms.

🛠️ 3. Defect Tracking and Reporting

• Log, track, and manage software defects with clear replication steps and resolution validation.

• Ensure all defects meet project/program norms and are documented as per client and internal standards.

• Analyze and document patterns in issues to help drive root cause analysis and future defect prevention.

• Deliver clear, structured test progress reports, defect matrices, and cycle exit dashboards to stakeholders.

📋 4. Stakeholder Communication and Status Reporting

• Provide timely updates to internal and external stakeholders through weekly status reports (WSRs), test execution reports, and live dashboards.

• Ensure effective communication with clients regarding faults, updates, and testing insights through emails, calls, and formal reports.

• Ensure no escalations or complaints due to missed communication, response delays, or untracked bugs.

• Implement Wipro’s best practices in software testing, leveraging tools and techniques to reduce defects and ensure quality benchmarks.

• Use eCube, TMS, and other project-related trackers to record accurate efforts, progress, and blocker status.
