L&T Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) invites experienced and skilled professionals to apply for the pivotal role of Section Incharge at one of its premier project locations in Agra. This is a high-responsibility leadership position within an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) transmission line project that spans voltage capacities from 400kV to 765kV.

The Section Incharge plays a crucial role in the on-site execution, supervision, and coordination of construction activities in an assigned project segment. This position requires strong project execution experience in high-voltage transmission lines, proficiency in construction planning, and the ability to manage field teams across challenging terrains and environments.


Key Job Responsibilities

As a Section Incharge in a large-scale EPC transmission line project, your role includes end-to-end responsibility for ensuring that project activities within your designated section are executed safely, efficiently, and within defined quality and time parameters.

1. Construction Management and Execution

  • Oversee all field-level activities including site preparation, tower foundation works, erection, and stringing.

  • Lead the on-ground execution aligned with approved engineering drawings, project specifications, and quality standards.

  • Manage labor productivity and optimize equipment usage to meet daily and weekly construction goals.

2. Technical Supervision and Quality Assurance

  • Interpret engineering blueprints, layout plans, and technical documents to guide execution.

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and safety protocols at every stage of project execution.

  • Implement real-time solutions to field issues and maintain compliance with technical and contractual obligations.

3. Coordination and Team Leadership

  • Collaborate with site engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams for seamless execution.

  • Coordinate actively with the Planning and Project Control team to ensure that your section’s progress remains aligned with the master project timeline.

  • Lead and motivate field crews, ensuring effective manpower utilization and performance accountability.

4. Resource Planning and Logistics

  • Anticipate project needs and arrange for timely deployment of essential resources such as workforce, materials, equipment, and tools before execution begins.

  • Resolve bottlenecks related to resource availability, delays in delivery, or on-site logistic issues.

5. Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain daily site reports, project progress updates, and compliance documentation.

  • Assist the Construction or Project Manager with weekly and monthly progress reports for internal and client-facing reviews.

6. Site Mobility and Adaptability

  • Be prepared to work at various project locations across the country, often in remote and geographically diverse areas.

  • Adapt to site-specific environmental, cultural, and regulatory conditions to ensure successful project outcomes.


Qualifications and Professional Experience

Educational Background:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering is essential.

  • A Graduate Diploma in Construction Project Management will be an added asset.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 6 to 14 years of hands-on experience in transmission line construction projects, particularly under the EPC model.

  • Proven track record of managing construction works for high-voltage lines ranging from 400kV to 765kV.

  • Previous involvement in at least two full lifecycle transmission line projects is highly preferred.


Key Skills and Competencies

Technical Competencies:

  • Sound knowledge of line surveying, tower spotting, foundation engineering, erection techniques, and conductor stringing methods.

  • Expertise in interpreting construction drawings, technical specifications, and executing field-level tasks.

  • Familiarity with construction methods for different types of terrains and soil conditions.

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Exceptional people management and team coordination skills.

  • Strong communication abilities for effective coordination with internal teams, external contractors, and client representatives.

  • Proactive problem-solving mindset with the ability to take decisions under pressure and in real-time.

Planning and Monitoring Abilities:

  • Experience in monitoring construction milestones, tracking daily progress, and ensuring timely delivery.

  • Capability to liaise with planning engineers and use project management tools to align section goals with master schedules.


Preferred Certifications and Compliance Awareness

  • Safety Certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH are considered advantageous.

  • Awareness and practical understanding of ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) standards.
