Role Overview: Data Engineer – BI at IBM Pune

As a Data Engineer in Business Intelligence, your role involves transforming raw data into insightful reports and dashboards that guide strategic decisions. You’ll be embedded in a collaborative consulting team responsible for understanding business challenges, interpreting requirements, and developing impactful visualizations that align with enterprise goals.

This role is ideal for tech-savvy, analytical professionals who are passionate about data modeling, visualization, and storytelling through tools such as Tableau, SQL, and other advanced BI technologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze business requirements to design and implement robust data visualizations using Tableau and related BI tools.

  • Develop and manage complex SQL queries and custom scripts to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various databases.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver customized reporting solutions.

  • Maintain report quality and ensure continuous improvements through rigorous testing and performance tuning.

  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot technical issues related to data discrepancies or report generation.

  • Manage version control, source code documentation, and effective content delivery across platforms.

  • Assist in defining technical and architectural requirements for ongoing BI enhancements.

  • Ensure high levels of data integrity, availability, and consistency in analytics solutions.


Educational Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or any relevant technical field.

  • Tableau Desktop Specialist Certification or proven hands-on expertise in Tableau.

  • Experience with Custom SQL, calculated fields, filters, parameters, and sets in Tableau.
