As a Technical Consultant in Security Intelligence & Operations, you will work in dynamic, multidisciplinary teams that serve public and private sector clients worldwide.

At IBM, a job is more than just work — it’s a calling to build, code, consult, and lead innovation. With over a century of technology leadership and a reputation for groundbreaking solutions in AI, cloud computing, quantum technology, and cybersecurity, IBM offers an unmatched platform for growth and impact.

Your Role as Technical Consultant – Security Intelligence & Operations

As a Senior SOC Analyst within IBM’s Cyber Fusion Center (CFC), you will be at the frontline of digital defense. You’ll monitor, analyze, and respond to cyber threats in real time, ensuring client systems are resilient against internal and external vulnerabilities.

This position requires hands-on experience with leading cybersecurity tools like SIEM, IDS/IPS, Firewalls, Cloud Platforms (AWS & Azure), and SOAR Solutions. You’ll be expected to provide proactive analysis, correlate data, identify security anomalies, and escalate threats based on severity and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and investigate alerts and events generated from SIEM tools and cloud platforms across client environments.

  • Analyze and respond to security incidents by performing real-time monitoring, deep packet inspection, and threat intelligence correlation.

  • Use log data from various sources — network devices, operating systems, cloud services — to uncover malicious activity.

  • Evaluate alerts and identify actionable threats, vulnerabilities, and anomalies.

  • Collaborate with team members and clients to deliver accurate security insights and documentation.

  • Conduct root cause analysis of security breaches and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

  • Develop and maintain SOC runbooks/playbooks for process standardization and continuous improvement.

  • Recommend improvements to automation, alert fidelity, and cybersecurity controls.

  • Participate in cyber operations trend analysis, risk assessment, and threat modeling.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Educational Background:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related fields (Required)

    • Master’s Degree (Preferred)

  • Experience Level:

    • Professional-level experience in Security Operations Center (SOC) environments or similar cybersecurity roles.

Required Technical Skills

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical capabilities and a sharp analytical mindset. You should have:

  • Proven experience in SOC operations, including event triage, incident detection, and analysis.

  • In-depth understanding of email, system, network event analysis, and log correlation.

  • Knowledge of modern cyber threats, attack vectors, and exploit techniques.

  • Hands-on experience with tools such as SIEM (QRadar, Splunk, ArcSight), SOAR, IDS/IPS, and firewall logs.

  • Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols, DNS, VPN, and proxy technologies.

  • Event analysis expertise in cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.

  • Proficiency in identifying malicious behavior patterns using real-time data from multiple sources.

Preferred Technical Expertise

  • Familiarity with CyberArk, Azure SSO, and other advanced identity and access management tools.

  • Understanding of enterprise web technologies and cloud infrastructure security.

  • Demonstrated ability to document, escalate, and report incidents in a structured and professional manner.

  • Experience building or contributing to SOC playbooks, automation scripts, or incident response workflows.

  • Knowledge of compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, GDPR, HIPAA) and best practices in cybersecurity governance.

Soft Skills & Professional Traits

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • A team player who actively contributes in collaborative environments — calls, meetings, and peer reviews.

  • Strong problem-solving ability with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Ability to operate under pressure and deliver high-quality output within tight deadlines.

  • Highly self-motivated with a proactive attitude toward learning emerging technologies.
