Role Overview
As an Associate Software Developer in IBM’s Data Platforms – Google Cloud team, you’ll design, implement, and optimize data pipelines and platforms. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver real-time insights, predictive analytics, and data-driven solutions that guide strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Migration & Platform Modernization

Design and convert existing databases (Hadoop, on-premise systems) to GCP (BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Firestore).

Outline enterprise architecture roadmaps, including WBS, staffing plans, RACI, RISK/ISSUE logs.
2. Core Data Engineering

Cleanse, integrate, and transform data efficiently and sustainably.

Build and validate statistical, predictive, or prescriptive models.

Use tools like Elasticsearch and Splunk for enterprise search and monitoring solutions.

Create APIs or interfaces to expose data securely and efficiently.
3. Agile Delivery & Collaboration

Work in Agile teams with data scientists, DBAs, consultants, and partners.

Participate in workshops to analyze use-cases and gather requirements.

Guide internal teams to adopt best-in-class tools and cloud-native methods.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields (Preferred – Master’s degree).

Experience: 6+ years in data engineering, data migration, or analytics roles, with strong exposure to cloud platforms.

Technical Skills:

Proficient with GCP services: BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Dataproc, Cloud Storage.

Strong SQL and database conversion expertise.

Fluent in Python, Java, or Scala for data processing.

Familiarity with ELK stack and/or Splunk for enterprise data search.
