This position is integral to the planning, execution, and monitoring of daily precast production activities, ensuring efficient manufacturing and high-quality output of precast concrete components. The ideal candidate will serve as the technical foundation for the production unit, effectively linking engineering designs to on-ground execution.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Precast Production Incharge and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including QA/QC, Stores, Procurement, Logistics, and EHS.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Coordination
- Interpret and translate engineering and shop drawings into clear, executable tasks for production teams.
- Plan and sequence element-wise casting by aligning with production schedules and mould availability.
- Ensure availability of all required materials and tools including reinforcement cages, embedded items, moulds, form release agents, and lifting pins.
- Oversee casting operations including mould setup, formwork, reinforcement fixing, concrete pouring, vibration, curing, and demoulding.
- Coordinate with fabrication and maintenance teams to confirm operational readiness of all steel moulds and associated tools.
2. Technical Execution & Quality Control
- Perform thorough pre-production inspections on moulds and equipment to ensure dimensional accuracy and cleanliness.
- Validate precast elements post-production to ensure alignment with structural, dimensional, and aesthetic standards.
- Monitor casting processes in real time and assist technicians in resolving issues like honeycombing, alignment errors, and insert misplacements.
- Enforce dimensional tolerance compliance (length, thickness, openings, camber) to reduce rework and quality issues.
3. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive daily logs on casting volumes, manpower utilization, cycle time, concrete consumption, and demoulding results.
- Record and escalate delays or abnormalities in production due to labour shortages, material unavailability, or equipment failure.
- Prepare and submit weekly reports to the Precast Production Manager summarizing performance metrics, rework rates, and process improvements.
4. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work hand-in-hand with QA/QC teams to inspect elements during all production phases—pre-casting, during casting, and post-demoulding.
- Communicate proactively with stores and procurement teams for timely availability of inputs and to monitor stock levels.
- Liaise with logistics for the post-curing dispatch of elements in line with the erection schedule.
- Ensure complete adherence to safety protocols in collaboration with the EHS team, including usage of PPE, crane operation safety, and hazard risk assessments.
