Role Overview: Senior Manager – Market Risk, Treasury, and Liquidity Risk (Business Analyst)

As a Senior Manager specializing in Market Risk, Treasury, and Liquidity Risk, you will take end-to-end accountability for overseeing critical risk transformation and regulatory enhancement projects. You will collaborate with business units and technology teams to design solutions, conduct risk assessments, and drive initiatives around VaR (Value at Risk), FRTB (Fundamental Review of the Trading Book), stress testing, back-testing, and PnL attribution.

This role demands a strategic mindset, deep technical understanding, and a problem-solving approach to deliver actionable outcomes that shape financial risk landscapes.


Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis and Impact Assessment

  • Conduct thorough impact assessments and define business solutions to support regulatory compliance and risk transformation programs.

  • Drive the implementation of enhancements to risk models, reporting frameworks, and attribution methodologies to align with market and regulatory standards.

Risk and PnL Data Analysis

  • Perform in-depth analysis of market risk and Profit and Loss (PnL) data to validate attribution models and ensure the integrity of data across all platforms.

  • Participate in designing and executing testing strategies, including functional tests, back-testing, and model validation to ensure robustness and accuracy.

Project Management and Documentation

  • Independently manage medium to large-scale projects from inception through delivery, employing business analysis tools such as:

    • Business Requirement Documents (BRDs)

    • Functional Specification Documents (FSDs)

    • Data matrices

    • Workflow diagrams

  • Prepare comprehensive project reports, including weekly updates, risk assessments, and resource utilization summaries.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders including Risk Management, Risk Middle Office, Front Office, and Technology Partners.

  • Facilitate the migration of legacy systems to modern risk infrastructures, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruptions.

Testing and Quality Assurance

  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) efforts by developing test strategies, test plans, and implementation plans.

  • Promote best practices in functional testing, ensuring high-quality deliverables and efficient defect management.

Training and Governance

  • Support project governance by training incoming team members and coordinating with regional counterparts to standardize onboarding processes.

  • Define and manage the project’s governance framework to ensure alignment with organizational goals.


Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Finance, or Risk Management preferred).

  • Strong command over market risk concepts such as:

    • Value at Risk (VaR)

    • Stress Testing

    • Back-Testing

    • PnL Attribution

    • Sensitivities Analysis

  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Basel II.5/III and capital calculation methodologies.

  • Working knowledge of capital regulations including FRTB and standardized approaches.

Preferred Skills

  • Deep understanding of financial products across all asset classes (fixed income, equities, derivatives, commodities, etc.).

  • Proficiency with both Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.

  • Expertise in:

    • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)

    • Data analysis and business intelligence tools like SQL, Python, Denodo, Dremio, Power BI, Alteryx, and Tableau.

  • Proven ability to document and maintain high standards for business processes and technical deliverables.

  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing project priorities and work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to recognize process inefficiencies and propose innovative automation solutions.
