Role Overview

The Lead Administrator – L1 plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless functioning of Wipro’s IT infrastructure tower. This includes comprehensive responsibility for platform design, system upgrades, disaster recovery planning, operational stability, and leadership of the technical support team.

With an emphasis on scalability, security, and high availability, this role is ideal for an experienced technologist with strong operational acumen and the ability to translate architectural vision into executable processes.


Key Responsibilities

1. Architecture Planning and Technical Delivery

  • Provide expert-level support in planning and implementing architecture for platform, middleware, database, and backup systems.

  • Lead end-to-end design, installation, and migration efforts for new projects in the assigned technical tower.

  • Conduct technology capacity assessments to ensure that infrastructure is scalable, cost-effective, and future-ready.

  • Utilize advanced features in existing technologies to optimize infrastructure performance and reliability.

2. Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations of the infrastructure tower, ensuring 24×7 availability and performance.

  • Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement long-term fixes to minimize downtime.

  • Lead periodic upgrades, migrations, and patching exercises across environments.

  • Maintain business continuity through strategic disaster recovery planning and execution of backup strategies.

3. Performance Optimization

  • Evaluate system performance and implement best practices to improve efficiency and reduce latency.

  • Regularly review performance metrics and implement fine-tuning initiatives for enhanced responsiveness.

  • Leverage automation tools to create Service Improvement Plans (SIPs) for operational efficiency and cost optimization.

4. Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation including SOPs, daily test plans, backup plans, architecture diagrams, and risk mitigation protocols.

  • Generate weekly reports on operational metrics, service incidents, capacity utilization, and upcoming maintenance to both internal leadership and client stakeholders.


Team and People Leadership

1. Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning

  • Forecast resourcing needs based on project pipeline and operational demand.

  • Participate in recruiting skilled professionals and ensure alignment with Wipro’s technical and cultural standards.

  • Train and empower team leads to build high-performing and inclusive teams.

2. Capability Development and Mentorship

  • Drive onboarding and knowledge-transfer initiatives to ramp up new hires effectively.

  • Identify high-potential team members and provide structured career development paths.

  • Foster a collaborative learning environment through mentoring, coaching, and leadership programs.

3. Performance Management

  • Set KPIs and performance goals for direct reports.

  • Conduct regular appraisals and provide actionable feedback to ensure continuous performance improvement.

4. Employee Engagement

  • Initiate and lead team engagement programs to enhance morale and collaboration.

  • Monitor employee satisfaction and drive improvements through regular check-ins and feedback loops.
